There have been a number of students and parents at Viola High School who have asked about the ACT® fee waiver process. Please read on for more information about the fee waiver process.
ELIGIBILITY
To use a fee waiver, a student must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- The student must be currently enrolled in the 11th or 12th grade.
- The student must be testing in the United States, U.S. territories, or Puerto Rico.
- The student must meet one of the following indicators of economic need.
- Enrolled in a federal free or reduced-price lunch program at school.
- Enrolled in a program for the economically disadvantaged.
- Reside in a foster home, are a ward of the state, or are homeless.
- Family receives low-income public assistance or lives in federally subsidized public housing.
- Family’s total annual income is at or below the USDA levels for free or reduced-price lunches listed on the USDA Food and Nutrition Service website.
What Fee(s) does the fee waiver cover?
- The fee waiver covers registration and late fees for either the full ACT® test (no writing or with writing) or section retesting (up to three subjects).
- The waiver covers one report to your high school and up to six college choices (at the time you register). After registration, you will also be able to send any number of additional score reports for free.
- Provides free access to The Official ACT® Self-Paced Course, Powered by Kaplan®.
How is the Fee Waiver Used?
- You may use the fee waiver to register for one ACT® National test date.
- If you do not test on the registered test date, you may apply your used waiver toward a future test date registration fee. (Note: You will have to pay for the test date change fee on your own.)
- Eligible students may use a maximum of four separate fee waivers.
- You cannot use the fee waiver to receive a refund for a test fee that you already paid.
